With high school comes a lot of great opportunities, but also more responsibly. The biggest thing in my 2 year high school career is Grades. They are awesome and suck at the same time. They are a great thing, but they can also dramatically affect your life after college. The nice thing is that grades are a direct corlation to the time we put into school projects and studying.
I have gotten very lucky my first year and a 1/2. I have maintained all A’s (maybe 1 or 2 “A-”) but for the most part I have really done well. But when I start to look at my grades and the grading system in general I wonder if we are all missing something. Where we live academic “standards” are extremely high. And I think that a lot of times I get side tracked, Because a “C” is average. These days it seems like you have to get straight “A’s” if you are smart. But when I thought about it getting “A’s” is very good, but I don’t always have to get an A+ in every class.
But aside from the “academic contest” in Orange County, I really like grades. Sure at times getting a bad grade on an assignment is frustrating, but they give you an accurate view point for what you need to work on. And it also allows you to get scholarships in college which is always a plus!!!
