For about the past 4-5 Months I have re-designed and posted so new articles about my life and various topics. But for right now I am going to be taking a break from blogging. It has become more of a task than a hobby and I am ready to invest my time in other projects. Its the same reason as why I deleted my twitter – I just didn’t see how it benefited me. So I have made the choice to take a break from blogging and twitter for a little while.

You may be wondering what i will be spending my time doing?? I could defiently invest more time into reading my bible. Aside from that I could also put more time into my school work. So between school, reading my bible more consistently and running my other website I just don’t see the reason to continue blogging about my life.

For those of you who enjoy reading and hearing what i have to write than we can always facebook chat, meet at starbucks….or go to the Happiest Place on Earth with me. But thanks for reading and check back in a few months and you never know when I might be blogging again

I might start painting…

This week I have had this weird idea that I should start painting. The humor behind this is that I have no artistic talent. However, it is something i wish I had. Then I realized the reason I want to start painting is because I suck at it. It sounds kinda weird but between school, swim team & other stuff I have to follow rules and complete assignments a certain way to get a good grade. In fact this is one reason why I don’t do surf contest – I have having to conform to other peoples rules/guidelines. And also because I am not good at it.

So I think the reason that I want to start painting is because I will suck at it and because there are no guidelines. I can paint what I want – where I want. Plus its always fun to pick up new hobbies.

A book I actually enjoyed

Ever since I learned to reader – I never really like it. With the reason being that in school I was always forced to read. When I am forced to do something like reading for school I often don’t enjoy it no matter if the book was good or not. But I have started reading a little more. One book I picked up a few weeks ago was “Understanding Intelligent Design” by Sean McDowell. I just finished it and have to admit it was really good. Of course now I am super into learning as much as possible about Intelligent Design. If you don’t know what Intelligent Design is than I would encourage and challenge you to read it.

Back to the Drawing Board

One thing that I love doing is brainstorming and in a sense going back to the drawing board to think and reflect on various things. Whether it is brainstorming about how to do better in school next semester or just making a list of qualities that I want to strive to posses, I love brainstorming. But to brainstorm and “go back to the drawing board”, also takes some courage. The reason being is that you have to often admit where you went wrong or messed up. But always striving to become better will set anyone up for success in this completive world.

A great example of going back to the drawing board was this past tuesday at one of the Youth Groups I go to. We talked about why Youth Group exists and then we just brainstormed about areas in which we could be better in. We also made a list of qualities that we thought were important to our group. The best part is that we know have a refined view of qualities in which we want to strive for and also areas in which we could improve in.

Reflecting on the past and brainstorming about how to become better is a humbling, but crucial part of life.

Just picked up a new book by Sean McDowell to read. He is a super smart guy who is a leading force in providing arguments and questions and in turn defending and explaining the christian faith against other religions.

I wanna jump the Pier

One thing that I loved about Junior Lifeguards was jumping off the pier. In fact it was one of the main reasons I did Junior Guards. Because it is illegal to jump unless you are in junior lifeguards. But for some reason I really want to jump off the pier right now. Its just super fun. I’ve jumped off over 35 times. I think the best part is the 25 foot drop – its just an awesome experience. A Team thats Making a Difference

Like I have mentioned in past posts I have been going to a small youth group in Laguna Beach for about a year now. The youth pastor there (Jeremy) is an awesome and super smart guy. What I like about the youth group he leads is that he is not afraid to tackle tough or complicated topics. He also is really into conversational and interactive learning which makes for fun discussions where we can ask questions and have them answered right there. But this past week Jeremy left with a team of 10 Youth Ministry Bloggers to go and serve the people of Haiti. Talk about a crazy, but amazing opportunity to first hand be able to help people who are hurting both mentally and physically. Growing up in a Christian home and going to church I have always been encouraged to Tithe because the bible mentions it and teaches us to be generous. But as I have started getting older it is getting harder to tithe becuase I am more concerned with how I spend my money. I think the reason is becuase I have to pay for a lot of stuff such as Clothes, Movies with friends etc. Going to a Mega Church it is easy to feel like your $5 or $10 a month really doesn’t make a difference.

One way I have started helping others is by participating in Kiva.com They are a Non-Profit which allows you to loan small amounts of money to entrepreneurs around the world to jump start there business. When they re-pay the loans back to you, you can then re-loan it to a new applicant. Not only are you making a difference – but it is a visible difference. A small loan that you provide to them could change their lives forever.

Many people in struggling countries just need a small loan to get their business off the ground and to be able to help them is truly remarkable. Some people would say “well thats not tithing” because you aren’t giving money to your church or because it is not a christian organization.” But Jesus called us to care and assist the poor and what better way to do that then to empower them to start a business. ‘

And just because I am going to put some of my money to work at Kiva.com doesn’t mean that I am not going to continue to give money to my church, its just another way to help less fortunate people.

Is Jesus a Ninja

Last night at Small group we discussed and Dissected John 8:48-58 for about an hour or so. My favorite part was verse 8:58

⁵⁸“”I tell you the truth,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I am!” ⁵⁹At this, they picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus hid himself, slipping away from the temple grounds.”

The verse never says how he hid and escaped from these people who wanted to stone him and eventually kill him. Because it doesn’t mention how he escaped and being a group of sophomore guys our first idea was if Jesus was a Ninja or if he was really good at Hide and Go Seek……just something fun to think about.
